Before you begin posting, it is required that you read this and the other threads housed in this board. The following rules concern the "Characters" section of Daydreams.
• You can audition for three types of characters: humans, Pokémon, and Pokémorphs.
- A Pokémorph is either a human with Pokémon-like features (a human with Meowth ears, charm, and tail, for example) or a Pokémon with human-like features (think anthropomorphic Pokémon). As of right now, humans who can morph into whatever Pokémon they are morphs of are not allowed.
• No Fakémon. No exceptions.
• Fill out the template provided for what type of character, human, Pokémon, or Pokémorph, you're auditioning for. (There is a "Miscellaneous" field in the template where you can post anything else that doesn't fit into the categories above it.)
- Pokémon Natures (From Adamant to Timid) are not listed in the Pokémon template because the roleplays hosted on this site should not concern stats and, therefore, make them insignificant. Also note that Level is not listed for the same reason and has been replaced with "Age."
• You can audition for original, alternate!original, canon, and alternate!canon characters.
- By "alternate!original" and "alternate!canon" characters, I mean characters that differ from the original/canon character in some way. For example, if you have an original Pokémon Trainer character but also play him/her at a younger/older age, as a different sex, and etcetera, that would count as an "alternate!original" character.
• If auditioning for a canon or alternate!canon character, a roleplay sample will most likely be asked for. If auditioning for an original or alternate!original character, a roleplay sample may or may not be asked for.
- A roleplay sample should be in third-person and from the perspective of the character you're auditioning for. Length-wise, it should be at least three well-constructed paragraphs, and it should include dialogue.
• If someone is accepted as a character you wanted to audition for, fret not! You can still audition for the exact same character so long as you both don't play the same character in the same roleplay.
- A roleplay sample will be required in addition to the profile, which you should copy/paste and tweak as little as you can. (Tweaking age and other elements like that are fine as long as you keep them as close together as possible, but physical appearance, personality, and similar fields should not be touched After all, he or she was accepted because of the good quality or his or her profile.)
• If auditioning for a character who owns Pokémon that you want to roleplay as, audition for the owner first ,and if he or she is accepted, then audition for each individual Pokémon.
• The title of your audition thread should be "Character Audition: [Insert Character Name Here] ([Insert Whether Canon, Alternate!Canon, Original, or Alternate!Original])"
• Mary-Sues and Gary-Stus are the banes of every roleplayer's existence. Avoid creating them at all cost. Those who check character profiles will be the judges of whether a character is a Mary-Sue/Gary-Stu or not. If dubbed one, you can edit the character's profile to your heart's content until all/ most of the fail has been wiped out.
- If you're absolutely insistent that a character of yours is not a Mary-Sue/Gary-Stu even if you're told she/he is, you may post a roleplay sample from the perspective of the character in question to either help or hurt your cause.
• Wait for your character to be accepted before reposting it in the appropriate sub-board in the "Accepted Characters" section of the forum.
