After Team Galactic's downfall in the Sinnoh region, all was peaceful. Slowly but surely, life for its inhabitants returned to normal, and the alarm in their hearts vanished.
That was until some Trainers' and Breeders' Pokémon began vanishing as well.
Panic swept Sinnoh as Pokémon from all over disappeared and never returned. When Professor Rowan's lab in Sandgem Town was raided, its Pokémon and equipment stolen, a small card was left at the scene. It read in rather elegant script: "The Ultimate Power will soon consume you." According to the professor, he had seen the same type of paper before and that he knew the species of tree that the card was made from only grew in one place in all of Sinnoh.
Camala Island, which is far west from Canalave City, is the plant's home. A small group of the professor's assistants made their way to the isle to see what was amiss. They were never seen again.
Upon hearing that information, most Trainers and Breeders gave up the search for their missing Pokémon, thinking they were long gone. A handful, however, decided to risk everything—including their lives—to find their lost companions by venturing to Camala Island.
What these brave travelers don't know is that their Pokémon won't be the same if they ever find them.
Some of Team Galactic's members decided to band together once more and form Team Ultima, an organization destined to create the ultimate Pokémon by combining DNA from every other Pokémon in existence. After extracting the necessary genetic information from their victims, they wipe their memories, turning them into primitive beasts, and leave them to fend for themselves on the island.
Gradually, as they kidnap more and more Pokémon, Team Ultima's dream is becoming a reality. Ultima, The Ultimate Power, is still in its fetal stage, but the group is sure that substantial progress will be made and that it would be complete in due time.
The Trainers and Breeders en route to Camala Island are going to find much more in their hands than expected.
